Raabe Ford Lincoln Breathes Life into Delphos Fire Rescue's CPR Training Program

AUGUST 9- The CPR Training Program of the Delphos Fire Department was greatly enhanced when Raabe Ford Lincoln, in partnership with the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association (OADA), presented a Little Anne Four-Pack CPR Training Kit.

The donation was fueled by a desire to increase awareness and express gratitude from Raabe Ford Lincoln's Vice President Joe Nott after a scary incident at the dealership earlier this year gave Raabe Ford Lincoln employees a firsthand look at the importance of knowing how to correctly administer CPR.

In April, Raabe Ford Lincoln's Used Car Manager Scott Fetzer suffered from a Widowmaker heart attack while on the job. The only person at the scene was New Vehicle Manager Joe Smith, who luckily had some prior CPR training and was quick to react. Smith called 911 while actively administering CPR, ultimately saving Fetzer's life.

However, when questioned after the incident Smith explained, "I really couldn't remember how to do CPR properly, I just did what I kind-of remember being taught a long time ago."

Emergency medical situations can happen to any person at any time, and being prepared for when they do can be the difference between life and death. Smith's statement brought to light the alarming fact that many people are not equipped with or confident in their ability to perform these basic yet life-saving skills. It was this alarming realization that inspired Raabe Ford Lincoln's donation.

Last year, all Delphos city employees received CPR training, along with over 40 CPR classes given to the community. The Little Anne Four-Pack CPR Training Kit provided by the dealership will assist Delphos Fire Safety in their efforts to educate the public and help more people prepare for the unexpected.

Raabe Ford Lincoln's Vice President Joe Nott along with employees Scott Fetzer, Joe Smith, Kelly McCluer, Rob Bradshaw and Taylor Van Grootheest, also joined by OADA's Director of Dealer Services Chris Haas, presented the training unit to Delphos Fire Rescue's Platoon Chief Scott Warnement, Platoon Chief Ryan Shumaker, Firefighter/EMT Dakotah Rolfe and Apparatus Engineer A.J. King at the Delphos Fire Department on Thursday.
