As we have experienced over the last several years, the OEMs are continuing to push costs of Auto Show participation across the country to the line-make advertising groups and individual dealers. Columbus is no exception to this cost shift. After numerous discussions with the CADA Board, they have elected not to host the Columbus Auto Show in March at the Convention Center. The Board had serious concerns related to several factors, including brand representation, which they felt would reflect negatively on the dealer body.
The CADA Board has directed us to explore alternative options to help engage consumers and showcase vehicles. This may include an event such as a multi-brand Ride & Drive. We are evaluating those options and hope to have more details shortly. As you evaluate your budgets with your dealership(s) and LMAs, we ask that you please allocate or reserve dollars for a potential new event in 2025.
Also, the Board felt strongly that the charitable engagement is still a priority; however, not hosting an auto show in March provides us additional flexibility to make a charitable event bigger and better. This may include changing the event, venue, and date. We would welcome any suggestions.
Once the news breaks, you may receive a media inquiry about the cancellation of the Columbus Auto Show. Please feel free to direct those inquiries to us.
