OADA Introduces You to Our New Legal Team

OADA has recently welcomed two new employees to our team.  We would like to give you a brief introduction to our new legal staff.  Kevin Shoemaker will be serving as OADA's new Vice President of Legal Affairs, and Matt Chacey has joined us as Staff Counsel.  Both of them bring great experience to the table and will be here moving forward to assist in answering all of your legal questions.  

As a reminder, the OADA legal hotline gives you access to attorneys focused on your industry in an effort to help you navigate legal and regulatory challenges.  Whether it's licensing, employment law, tax questions, franchise issues, workers compensation or something else, call the OADA staff counsel first to help you.  The service is included with your OADA membership and can get you the answers you need quicker and easier than calling expensive outside counsel. Here is a little bit of background on our newest team members:

Kevin Shoemaker:

• Graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1979
• Past experience in writing dealer franchise law, and has served as special counsel to eight Ohio Attorneys General on a variety of matters
• Represented numerous counties, townships, cities, and school districts giving general advice or representing them in particular disputes such as employment and personnel issues
• Recently named to the list of The Best Lawyers in Central Ohio in 2016 for being one of the top administrative/regulatory law attorneys in the area

Matt Chacey:

• Graduate of Miami University, where he spent a semester abroad studying in Luxembourg and got his Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in English
• Interned with the U.S. House of Representatives.  
• Graduated from Capital University Law School in 2015 where he was inducted into the Order of the Curia for his academic achievement
• During his time at Capital, he served as the President of the Corporate and Business Law Association as well as the Student Representative to the law school's admissions committee
• Before joining OADA, Matt was in private practice where he focused on helping small businesses grow and prosper as well as families with their estate planning and probate needs
