Ohio Car Dealerships Raise Money for Pelotonia in Support of Cancer Research

Pelotonia

Columbus, Ohio- Pelotonia is a three-day experience that includes a weekend of cycling, entertainment and volunteerism. Each year, thousands of riders hop on their bikes to help raise money for Pelotonia in support of cancer research. Pelotonia’s operating expenses are covered by funding partners so that 100% of every rider-raised dollar goes directly to fund research. Since it was founded in 2008, Pelotonia has raised a total of $130,159, 438 for the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.

7,749 riders and 275 Pelatons (teams) raised a record-breaking total of $24,104, 423 in Pelotonia 2016. We are proud to announce that 2 Ohio car dealerships hosted Pelotons raising over $146,000 for cancer research.

Germain Automotive Partnership joined Pelotonia for the first time this year. Comprised of 46 riders led by team captain Paul Germain, Germain Automotive Partnership raised over $128,000. Team Honda Marysville is in its third year of participation. Comprised of 9 riders led by team captain Jeff Pister, Team Honda Marysville raised over $18,000 to aid in the fight against cancer.

In addition to Germain Automotive Partnership and Team Honda Marysville, a number of Ohio car dealers and employees also participate in Pelotonia each year. Some of those participants include Bobby Dawes of Bob-Boyd Auto Family, Rich Broderick of Roush Honda and Doug and Jeff Krieger of Krieger Ford. In Pelotonia 2016, the four of them alone raised almost $18,000.

With so many important causes to support, why choose this one? Sarah Jayne Germain of Germain Automotive Partnership responds; “Pelotonia is such a remarkable experience for everyone involved. We had riders whose spouses, parents, and friends have been treated at The James at one time or another and even an employee riding who was a patient of The James earlier this year. It is a fantastic way to support the outstanding work of the researchers, doctors, nurses and staff of The James. They are tireless in their efforts to make this a cancer free world, and we were very proud to be a small part of it.”

It is easily observed that Ohio car dealers play a huge role in the fight against cancer. Whether they are riding themselves, sponsoring a rider, or volunteering on the weekend of the event, every person involved looks forward to and feels proud to be participating in Pelotonia.
