Governor DeWine Press Conference Summary for Friday, March 27

Below are the updates from Friday’s press conference with Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted, and Dr. Acton. Today’s press conference is scheduled for 2:00 PM.  You can watch this on the Ohio Channel, Ohio Public TV (PBS stations), and other Columbus-based outlets. 

Here’s the news from Friday, March 27:

  • In Ohio there are 1,137 confirmed cases, 107 ICU admissions, 276 hospitalizations, and 19 deaths as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  There are confirmed cases in 61 counties across the state.
  • Today, Governor DeWine signed HB 197 which provides emergency relief to Ohioans during the COVID-19 pandemic.   • President Trump signed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act today. This stimulus package provides $1,200 to most Americans along with funds for unemployment insurance and small businesses. Download a copy of the bill here.
  • Governor DeWine, President Obhof, and Speaker Householder announced the State of the State Address would be postponed until a later date, after the State of Emergency has concluded. The State of the State was originally scheduled for next Tuesday.
  • Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Husted have launched a new “Ohio. Find It Here.” Campaign to help residents support businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please visit Org/SupportLocal and see the attachment for additional information.
  • Attached is guidance for individuals should they need to use EMS services.
  • The state of Ohio is asking residents and businesses who can donate PPE, or any other essential service or resource, to please email Together@Governor.Ohio.Gov.
  • Ohioans can apply for unemployment benefits online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at ohio.gov. It is also possible to file by phone at 877-644-6562 or TTY at 888- 642-8203, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Employers with questions should email UCTech@jfs.ohio.gov.
